Italic emoji support in messages

If you click on the 🏩 tag for this message you’ll see that the tag is styled with italics on the multi display that appears, however, inputting the following Markdown does not result in an italic emoji on iOS 13 Safari: *🏩*

Update: I can’t get the multi view I was using before to appear, so this may be on my end.

Update 2: No italic emoji support works on iOS 13 for me here, but it does on my desktop, and I can reproduce italics in the thread list but not the message
