dice rolling

took the liberty to add a Fun feature while i was working on some harder stuff
simply type /roll [dice] into the reply box

the syntax is described here: https://github.com/justinian/dice#golang-dice
but to put it simply d&d style dice rolls work fine, like /roll 1d20

also if you want to actually post /roll as a message and not roll stuff just put a space in front of the slash

this is pretty cool. is it possible to implement a mode where you can see the results of each individual die rolled rather than the total? that would be super helpful for WOD games

nah

in WOD you’re looking for a number of dice above certain thresholds so sorting makes it a bit easier actually

like say you want to roll against a test of difficulty 4, you roll as many d8s as you have dots in relevant skills/stats and however many are 4+ is your number of successes

unless you’re incredibly bored, the roll function as is will do fine for anything we could want to do with it

long gone are the days of AD&D where you had to roll below certain thresholds (with THAC0 and to-hit), i’m pretty sure every P&P system on the market now has you rolling above thresholds for a success

almost crashed my computer trying to roll a billion dice locally lolz
added a limit (1000 dice for now) 😅

I’ve never edged an empire before. Do they make any funny noises as you bend them to your will?

idk i played that system once and it didnt last very long, not great for edging

Sometimes you need an experienced GM to edge for a long time, someone you know and who knows where your limits are so they can push you over them at just the right time.
