the main reason is that i have a screenshot utility that lets me capture an area of the screen and i can either save it to a file or copy to clipboard

copying to clipboard and then pasting into a thread is way faster than saving it to a file then browsing for the file and uploading it

seems like an OS issue
when i copy/paste gifs it shows up as a png before they get uploaded
