at the top nav bar that has your zones u could put a (1) or something when there’s a new post or thread in that zone
you can turn off the top bar completely phil so it doesn’t confuse you
i guess its not super important if someone is using the latest screen but if you’re browsing by zone’s you might miss if a different zone has new posts
